Best Group Photo at Way Up North 2025– Shot in Tuscany, Awarded in Berlin
At the 2025 edition of Way Up North, held in Tuscany, I submitted a photo for the very first time. And to my surprise, I won the award for Best Group Photo.
It might sound strange, because group photos aren't really my thing. I'm more about capturing natural, spontaneous moments than asking people to stand still and smile. But on that wedding day in Berlin, the non-stop rain forced me to rethink everything.
There was no chance of doing the traditional "everyone in a line" shot. So I improvised. I looked for a way to bring people together in the moment, despite the weather, and tried to create something real. The result? A very unconventional group photo — and apparently, the judges agreed.

Why I Love Capturing the Unexpected
As a wedding photographer, I've learned to embrace the unexpected — like a sudden storm or a muddy road in the Tuscan countryside. These moments often bring out the real emotions, the laughs, the intimacy. They create stories worth telling for years to come. And they remind me why I chose this job in the first place.
The best photographs don't come from perfect conditions. They come from authentic moments — sometimes messy, sometimes challenging, but always real. This award-winning photo wasn't about technical perfection; it was about human connection in an imperfect moment.
And isn't that what wedding photography should truly capture?
